When you put your trust in us, particularly with something as important as your hair, we have a responsibility to fulfill our promise and make sure you get the results you want. So we believe if any Scalp Med® product doesn’t meet your expectations, you shouldn’t have to pay for it.
Vitamin A: Too much vitamin A can cause hair loss. People can get too much of this vitamin through vitamin supplements or medicines. Once the body stops getting too much vitamin A, normal hair growth resumes.
There are about 100,000 strands of hair on your scalp and it is considered very normal to lose 50 to 100 strands a day. But when you start losing more than that, itís time for you to take some action so it doesnít progress to baldness or bald spots.
Years of pulling your hair too tight in a bun or ponytail or wearing it in cornrows or braids can put stress on the hair and cause a type of hair loss known as traction alopecia. So can bleaching or regular use of dyes, relaxers and other hair products as well as straightening irons and curling wands.
After six months of treatment, photograph assessment demonstrated a superior improvement in the supplemented group. Hair growth increased compared to the control group, and 89.9 percent of the participants reported a reduction in hair loss, as well as an improvement in hair diameter (86 percent) and hair density (87 percent). “Protecting the hair from the sun and environmental pollutants is a great start,” says Dr. Nicole Rogers, Redken consultant, board-certified dermatologist and hair-transplant surgeon at Hair Restoration of the South. “Although we don’t traditionally put SPF on our hair to prevent things like skin cancer, we can use a spray version to help reduce weathering of the hair shaft. Hats are also ideal and can also help reduce the damage that occurs from free-radical formation.”
The best source of Vitamin D is Sunlight. Try to spend few minutes in the sun daily with forearms, hands or lower legs uncovered. But if you live in countries (USA, Europe, Canada) where there is insufficient sunlight during winters, it is advised to take vitamin D supplements.
Aloe vera contains enzymes that directly promote healthy hair growth. Applying Aloe vera juice or gel on your scalp with having one teaspoon of Aloe vera on an empty stomach, can induce healthy hair growth. Aloe vera removes the dead cells from your scalp that can clog the roots in your hair. It has antimicrobial and ant-inflammatory properties that fight against the bacteria to fend off the diseases and keep the scalp cool. Aloe Vera also helps in restoring scalp’s pH balance, which promotes the growth of healthy hair.

As many as five million women in the United States suffer from polycystic ovarian syndrome. The condition, which can begin as early as age 11, is caused by a hormonal imbalance in which the ovaries produce too many male hormones. PCOS often causes infertility.
The treatment comes in two strengths containing 5% or 2% minoxidil. Evidence is mixed as to whether the higher strength is more effective, however side effects, including dryness or itchiness on the scalp are more likely with the higher strength.
Circular or patchy bald spots. Some people experience smooth, coin-sized bald spots. This type of hair loss usually affects just the scalp, but it sometimes also occurs in beards or eyebrows. In some cases, your skin may become itchy or painful before the hair falls out.
Myth: Extensive hormonal evaluation is required. Fact: Hormonal evaluation is only required if the patient is also experiencing irregular periods, infertility, hirsutism, cystic acne, virilization, or galactorrhea. Androgenetic alopecia usually doesn’t cause menstrual issues or interfere with pregnancy or endocrine function.
Hair transplants will likely lead to better results in the long run (you are introducing new hairs to the balding areas), but you’ll still need to use minoxidil or finasteride after surgery to maintain the results. Like all hair loss treatments, hair transplants are best when combined with other methods, and you’ll want to speak with your doctor to see what combination is best for you.
To fight free radical damage and protect the hair from aging, fill up on vitamin C foods like oranges, red peppers, kale, Brussels sprouts, broccoli, strawberries, grapefruit and kiwi. If you need supplementation, take 500–1,000 milligrams of vitamin C twice daily as an antioxidant.
The most common type of hair loss, androgenic alopecia, usually follows a pattern with hair thinning in the front of the scalp first and progressing on to involve the back and top of the head. This type tends to be progressive.

However, even though it seems to be my destiny to have thinner hair as I “mature” (my mother has experienced the same fate,) I have discovered there are quite a few things I could be doing that would give my hair more of a fighting chance.
So just relax! And this doesn’t mean you go on a permanent vacation. When you work, study or do your housework – focus on the task at hand, so basically be in the present. Maybe you want to allocate a fixed worry time – say around 15 minutes in the afternoon/evening – and at that time fret as much as possible about everything and anything.
Male hair loss (also known as male pattern baldness or ‘androgenic alopecia’) is usually genetic, although it can also be caused by extreme stress, illness, side effects to medical treatment, a major life event, skin disorders or hormone imbalance. The hormone testosterone is converted into DHT, which causes hair follicles to shrink. Hair production subsequently slows down or even stops altogether.
Symptom of a medical illness — Hair loss can be one of the symptoms of a medical illness, such as systemic lupus erythematosus (lupus), syphilis, a thyroid disorder (such as hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism), a sex-hormone imbalance or a serious nutritional problem, especially a deficiency of protein, iron, zinc or biotin. These deficiencies are most common in people on restrictive diets and women who have very heavy menstrual flow.
Since women develop hair loss for many reasons (more on that below) and each requires different treatment, it’s wise to consult with a dermatologist, says Wilma F. Bergfeld, senior dermatologist at the Cleveland Clinic and past president of the American Academy of Dermatology.
Even though the struggle to stop hair loss may be a long battle, the good news is that more than 90% of those taking finasteride and assessed by the aforementioned panel reported seeing desirable results (prevention of further hair loss and, in some cases, regrowth). While the effectiveness of finasteride often depends on the length of time it is taken, the available evidence suggests that two thirds of men who use it see some hair regrowth.

Shedding hair is different from hair loss, when a hair falls out and doesn’t grow back. People often shed hair during stressful events, such as childbirth, a breakup or divorce or during times of grief.
Devices that emit low-energy laser light may stimulate hair growth to help fight thinning hair. They’re available in some clinics and as hand-held devices to use at home. Laser therapy is best carried out by a hairdresser or therapist with experience and training in the use of these devices. The long-term safety and effectiveness are unknown.
At The Belgravia Centre we use a range of scientifically proven treatments and effective methods of tackling genetic hair loss. Two of our primary tools in treating Male Pattern Baldness are the pharmaceutical treatments Propecia (finasteride 1mg) and Minoxidil.
